The CSG (Contribution Sociale Généralisée) and CRDS (Contribution pour le Remboursement de la Dette Sociale) are mandatory social contributions levied on most types of income in France. Designed to help fund the national healthcare, family, and welfare systems, they apply to both employment earnings and investment capital gains. The calculation rules and rates differ significantly depending on the nature of the income. For salaried employees, the rate is 9.7% applied to a capped base of 98.25% of gross earnings. For investments and real estate capital gains, a global rate of 17.2% is levied. Use this simulator to split your social charges and find the tax-deductible portion.

This calculator determines your social charges based on the French tax rules:
- Employment Income: Social charges are calculated at 9.7% (9.2% CSG + 0.5% CRDS) on a reduced base representing 98.25% of your gross salary. Of this, 6.8% is deductible from your taxable income base.
- Investment Income: Social contributions are calculated at the standard flat rate of 17.2% on the total gross gains. A portion of 6.8% remains deductible from your overall income tax baseline if you opt for the progressive tax scale.
