An income tax calculator helps individuals in France estimate their annual personal income tax liability based on the progressive bracket structure established by the French Ministry of Economy and Finance. The French tax scale (barème progressif) divides your taxable income into tranches subject to progressively higher marginal tax rates ranging from 0% to 45%. Taxable income is divided by the number of household shares (parts fiscales) to determine the family quotient (quotient familial), ensuring progressive relief for families.

Official French Income Tax Brackets (Barème Progressif 2026)
Income earned in France is taxed according to the official progressive scale updated under the annual Finance Act (Loi de Finances) :
| Tax Bracket (Tranche de revenu net) | Marginal Tax Rate (TMI) | Taxation Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 11,624 € | 0% | Non-taxable base tier |
| From 11,625 € to 29,028 € | 11% | Taxed on fraction between 11,624 € and 29,028 € |
| From 29,029 € to 83,147 € | 30% | Taxed on fraction between 29,028 € and 83,147 € |
| From 83,148 € to 180,346 € | 41% | Taxed on fraction between 83,147 € and 180,346 € |
| Above 180,346 € | 45% | Top marginal bracket |
The Quotient Familial Mechanism:
Quotient Familial (Q) = Net Taxable Income / Number of Tax Parts. The progressive scale is applied to Q to compute the base tax per share, which is then multiplied back by the total number of parts.
- Single adult: 1 part
- Married or PACS couple: 2 parts
- First two dependent children: +0.5 part each
- Third child and each subsequent child: +1.0 part each
