A savings interest calculator is a powerful wealth-building tool that helps individuals project the future growth of their savings accounts or investment portfolios. Building financial security requires consistent saving habits and an understanding of how compound interest works to accelerate wealth. By inputting your initial starting deposit, your planned monthly contributions, and the annual interest rate, you can visualize how your money accumulates over a period of years. This tool illustrates the power of compounding, which occurs when you earn interest on your interest, creating an exponential growth curve. In addition to displaying your final account balance, the calculator highlights the total contributions you have made out of pocket and the total interest earned from the financial institution. Having these values can motivate you to stick to a saving schedule and compare returns on different accounts, such as high-yield savings accounts or mutual funds. By visualizing this growth, you can make better long-term budgeting decisions and allocate your spare cash to the highest yielding assets.

Methodology & Formula
This savings calculator calculates growth using monthly compounding compound interest:
For each month over the specified term, the balance is updated as:
Balance = Balance * (1 + r) + C
Where r is the monthly interest rate (annual interest rate / 12 / 100), and C is the monthly contribution. The total out-of-pocket contributions are computed as C * term in months. The total interest earned is the final balance minus the sum of the initial deposit and total contributions.
